Last month, a Toronto grocery store owner and two employees chased a suspected thief. They caught him and tied him up until police came.When officers arrived they arrested the owner and the two employees, charging them with kidnapping.
The suspect was arrested and charged with theft.
The crown attorney, Canada's version of the D.A. refused to drop the charges and in fact, upped the ante, by cutting a deal with the thief!
Canadians have no right to property. By extension you have no right to protect your property. A citizen's arrest can only be made during the commission of a crime. Once the murder is complete, you can't touch or detain the culprit. God help you if you pull a gun on the misguided lad!
So it's official. Lunacy has replaced reason in the Ontario Court system.
