Devotion and Observancy in a Small Town

small town All 1646 people my little hometown were shocked and saddened by the news from Fort Hood. You may think we are immune from the acts of devout and observant followers, but we are not.

Only last year, a man, known to attend church at least twice a week, a father, by all accounts a loving father and husband, a belooved and respected minor hockey coach, walked into the local pharmacy and acted out his beliefs.

None of the clerks in the store at the time knew anything about what was happening behind the pharmacist's counter.

One clerk sobbed, I'm not sure what I would have said or done. It's overwhelming.

The man left the pharmacy and even said a cheery good-bye to the clerks as he left.

About an hour later, one of the clerks found the pharmacist.

He was acting strangely, the clerk told the newspaper. He held out his hands so I could see:

A cheque (Canadian for check) large enough to cover all the uninsured prescription drug users in town for two months.

Those Christians!

Stand up. Pray for the victims of the Fort Hood massacre and that Muslims turn from Satan to Jesus.
